The machines, our Decent DE1s
At the heart of the cart are Decent DE1s, precise, modern espresso machines. Rather than keeping a big boiler hot all day, they heat water on demand, shot by shot, with tight control over temperature and pressure. The honest trade-off: a single DE1 won't machine-gun shots the way a traditional dual-boiler can. But with a pro on the handle it's plenty fast for relaxed serving, and what you get back is a more consistent cup, a lighter setup, and the efficiency to run all day on battery alone, no generator needed. They're also quick to start: because they heat on demand, they're up to temperature from cold in under five minutes, then hold it all day.
That light, low-power design also means we can add more machines when your event needs them. Each DE1 sips power and weighs a fraction of a commercial dual-boiler, so we can run several side by side off the same battery bank, something a big traditional machine can never do. A busier day doesn't mean a heavier, thirstier setup, it just means another DE1 and, potentially, another pair of hands on the bar, so the coffee keeps coming however many of you there are.
Running more than one machine also builds in redundancy. With a single big espresso machine, one fault stops the whole bar. With a bank of DE1s there's no single point of failure, so if one ever needs a moment, the others keep pouring and the queue never stops. It's a resilient and flexible way to host coffee at events, hidden inside something small and full of the latest espresso tech.
